Hartlepool director of sport Chris Turner has revealed James Brown is edging closer to a return but has reiterated the forward will not be rushed.
Brown has been sidelined since November when he suffered a lateral cartilage tear to his knee but he has now resumed training and is keen to feature for the reserves against Scunthorpe next week with a view to being involved in Pools` next match at home to Huddersfield.
However, Turner is remaining cautious and told the Hartlepool Mail: "James is doing all right.
"He is certainly getting close to a comeback. He is training well and feeling strong. But we will go on what the physio and James says.
"I don't know about the reserve-team game yet. I will seriously doubt whether he will start the game although he might get a run-out from the bench."
